Captain Khan, a poltical ad in favor of Hillary Clinton contains various persuasive techniques.
Captain Khan was the 27 year old son of two American citizens who died while heroically jumping in
front of a bomb, saving all of his group. In the video his father uses pathos throughout the video in
hopes of swaying voters. Pathos is appealing to people through their emotions in a convincing
manner. Khan's father reveals the truth of his sons death, asking Trump to recognize his sons valiant
efforts, by insinuating Trump does not respect Captain Khan due to him being Muslin-American. He
is appealing to the viewers emotion by causing sympathy and describing Hillary as someone who is
not racist. He also applies ethos which is, convincing someone based on the credibility or character of
another, by convincing the viewers that Hillary has stronger character than Trump.
According to breitbart, Trump never attacked Captain Khan by saying he is not a hero, in fact
he did the opposite by saying, "Captain Khan is an American hero." However, some might argue that
he said that to appeal to non-supporters. The video has been fact-checked to be false due to Khan's fathers' claim of Trump's lack of respect but previously, Trump has said racial comments about
Muslim-Americans. Being the father of a fallen soldier, he wants what he feels is best for our nation
and in the video all he is asking if Trump is for him to acknowledge and honor his son.
In the video, many common fallacies were used by Captain Khan's father when attempting to
prove his point. The main one I noticed was Hasty Generalizations because the speaker in the video,
Captain Khan's father, jumped to conclusions by saying Trump was not going to appreciate his sons
efforts overseas. He stereotyped Donald Trump as a racist who would automatically undermine his
son due to his previous disrespectful comments about Muslims. However, Trump did say his son was
a hero, even though he was a Muslim- American, whom he usually would not support.

The political debate on Monday night contained numerous moments of bickering. The debate was highly anticipatedsince it was the first time the two candidates have spoken face to face in 10 years. On Monday night, Trump tried his best to appeal to the American people by proving Hilary wrong. As Hilary suggested, many believe he is not showing his tax returns due to supposed tax fraud. He countered Hilary's point about tax return, and said he is not allowed to release them based on his attorney's advice but he would go against his lawyer's wishes when and if Hilary provides the people with her underground emails. At 29:40 Trump begins ignoring the question because instead of answering the question he was asked, he turned the blame on Clinton. However, it is also a fallacy because he is also saying that if Hilary shows the emails, he will show his tax returns. That statement is an example of logos.
Trump and Clinton, the two main presidential candidates of the 2016 election, both made various false statements throughout the debate. However, Trump said, "I did not support the war in Iraq… the records show I’m right.” This statement, according to politifact, is extremely false. In this statement, the moderator said that the questions have been judgement questions and asked why Trump said he supported the war. Trump was under the impression that the records show that he is right and began ignoring the question again. He blamed Hilary for the mainstream media lies, and the moderator preceded to ask again why he supported the war and why are his judgements correct. Trump interrupted him and said he lightly said it on various television and news interviews. Therefore, Trump never fully answered the question.
Towards the end of the debate Hilary recalls the derogatory statements Trump has made against, women and the many workers he has cheated, by filing bankruptcy and not paying his workers, in his life time. Clinton leads by saying her word is good and insinuates that his is not. She makes it obvious that Trump does not respect women the way she feels they should be respected and apologizes to all of the people he has robbed or offended. Clinton, at 1:31, begins to list all of the offensive things he has said and done. She expresses her sympathy for the workers he robbed,  not understanding how someone could not pay an innocent man for their work, comparing it to her father who worked incredibly hard as a drape installer. She uses the bandwagon appeal by telling the audience to vote for her because Alicia Mechado, beauty pageant contestant who was called Ms.Piggy by Trump is voting for her.

A manly man is someone who is not scared to take risks or pushing the limit, but scared of being ordinary

and not fulfilling their goal. This video shows what masculinity is for many reasons. Pete, a competitive eater, is the

definition of a strong man. He is clearly extremely buff, he eats a lot, and works out a lot. Just by his appearance, he

is more masculine than most men, in the sense that he is muscular. He takes his profession extremely seriously and

always tries to push himself as hard as possible. Pete is entertaining and mesmerizing, it is astonishing how fast he can eat.

He demonstrates how hard he works every time he completes a task. In this particular video, he challenged

himself to eat 10 Brazilian Pastels in under five minutes, which is hard for anyone to accomplish. However, he

completed his goal in under 90 seconds. Although it seems impossible, he makes it work and never slows down, not

even on the last one because he is so determine in being the best he can possibly be.This shows masculinity because

men are known as the gender who eat more and who eat faster. However,  Pete is different, not even the average

male can do what he does. He proves himself every time he sets out to do another competition.

He is extremely brave to even attempt eating ten Pastels in under 90 seconds. He could easily choke or get

sick due to he violent tactics he uses to finish the food. There are countless risks to what he is doing but he thinks

more about the positive then the negative outcomes, which is a very important trait a manly man needs. Pete

experiences physical pleasure through defeating the food on his plate. Pete's determination in life will always lead

him to success, which is how every person should be.
